Tijd is noch lineair, noch strikt meetbaar in microseconden.
Thresholds and Trigger Events brengt geluidskunstenaar Baz Laarakkers en kinetisch kunstenaar Yip Stals samen.

Thresholds and Trigger Events
From 7 March – 14 June 2026 in the ACEC Salon: Thresholds and Trigger Events by Baz Laarakkers and Yip Stals.
Time is neither linear, nor strictly measurable by microseconds. Time reveals itself as a dynamic, interlinked force shaped by the countless actions through which it emerges.
Thresholds and Trigger Events brings together sound artist Baz Laarakkers and kinetic artist Yip Stals in an exhibition that contemplates how multiple temporalities coexist and asks how we might re-attune our senses to these layered rhythms.
Wild clocks describe the ecological pulses that shape life on Earth. They orchestrate the rhythms through which organisms and materials attune themselves to the shifting rhythms that govern their environments. In Thresholds and Trigger Events, this concept becomes a guiding framework: an exhibition as (eco)system in which each component listens, responds, and gradually folds itself into the shifting pace of the whole.
The collaboration between Baz and Yip is driven by their shared focus on time-based media. Both practices – sculpted sound and kinetic works – are experienced as transient events that emerge in the present moment. This shared fundamental nature is the core of their joint artistic research.
About the artists
Yip Stals is an Arnhem based artist, graduated from the BEAR program at ArtEZ in 2023. On primary school he already build technical objects which could move most of the times. That seems to never be diluted, till this day he is inspired by movement and momentum as the starting point of his art practice.
Baz Laarakkers is a sound artist and composer from Arnhem, The Netherlands. His practice blends field recording, sonic transformation and generative composition, letting sound unfold through both compositional intent and procedural processes. Approaching sound as a concept through which to explore ecological and enmeshed thinking, Baz would like to challenge us to rethink our place within systems and invites us to listen not just as observers, but as active participants in a shared world.
